the Sands Softball Complex
Rules
The Sands uses ASA Rules and Umpires; variations and additions are
listed below.
- Home team provides a new ball. Visiting teams provide a near new ball. Balls
used are 12 inch, restricted flight (red stitched with a 47 core) balls. Some brands
use a blue dot. The second team listed on the schedule is the home team.
As core 47 balls become difficult to obtain we will allow core 44 balls.
- Not allowed: Steel spikes and titanium, composite, graphite, two-piece or multiple wall bats.
A Recreational Softball Association (RSBA) list of approved bats should be
available soon. {RSBA

- Pitcher's mound will be fifty feet.
- In order to start play a team must have at least eight players. There will be no
penalty. A team forfeits at five minutes past the scheduled start time.
- Ten players play at a time. Eleven may bat.
- All players must be a current Sands member prior to the start of the game.
Offending players cannot be added to the roster.
- Ejection of a player. The Sands stresses sportsmanship and fun. The team
captain must register an ejected player with Mike. Any player ejected from two games
is done playing at the Sands.
- NO-SHOW POLICY: Teams must call in a "no-show" 24 hours in advance.
Teams that have to borrow players to field a team will not be considered a
"no-show". Two "no-shows, no-calls" the team is off the
schedule. No refund. Other teams will be given any remaining games. The
Sands, the umpires and most teams do not mind helping a team out. People want to
play. Be courteous, call if there might be a problem.
- No beverages or coolers are permitted to be carried onto the premises. The parking
lot is included in the ban. This is a STATE LAW! Any person causing a
suspension of our liquor License will have their name, address and phone number published.
- Members must leave their pets at home.
- Any children must be under direct adult supervision at all times.
- No inning is started after fifty minutes (ASA rule). Therefore a game should last
between fifty and sixty minutes. If a game is delayed by the previous game, the
umpire sets the start time.

woman may walk also.
- Players can play any position they wish. There must be two women in
the outfield.
Rain-outs are officially determined one hour before your scheduled game. If
conditions permit, we make the call at 4:00. If it is below 60 degrees,
call or check the web site. We have
never canceled league play due to heat. Once
we had to cancel due to gale force winds. We
will not play in unsafe conditions. For official information call 255-9004
